Our just reward is death. Will you accept the GIFT God freely offers to you in Christ?

GIFT: \'gift\ n: something bestowed voluntarily and without compensation  (Webster's Dictionary)

"The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."
Romans 6:23

The righteous punishment for sin has always been death (Genesis 2:17), but even from the beginning God has shown mercy to sinners, allowing another to die in place of the sinner.

Check out Genesis 3:2: God told Adam & Eve if they sinned they would die; but instead of striking them down, He covered their shame with animal skins. Animal skins from dead animals. The animals died the deaths Adam & Eve should have died. This was the very first animal sacrifice, and a foretelling of Christ's perfect sacrifice.

In the book of Exodus, we read the story of how the Angel of Death passed over those who had sacrificed the Passover lamb and upon their door posts.
(Check it out in Exodus or watch the Ten Commandments!)

The prophets of old told us that someday the Chosen One would come: born of a woman just like us, yet greater than any of us; for He would crush the serpent's head, and by His death would bring us life
(Genesis 3:15, Isaiah 53 & Romans 16:20)

In the midst of His last Passover meal, Jesus identified Himself as our Passover Lamb (this is My body, broken for you...this is My blood, shed for you...)

He died your death: His blood in place of your blood...His death in place of your death...and as a result of His resurrection, we share His righteousness in place of our unrighteousness.

Reconciliation with God is offered to us as a GIFT. All we  have to do is accept it. Tell God "Yes, I want to be forgiven - I want to be made clean - I want to be saved". It really is that simple.

"Behold the Lamb of God, Who takes away the sins of the world!"

We are saved by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone---this is the only way! All other roads are futile and lead to destruction. If we had to rely on our works to any degree, how could we ever be sure that we had done enough? But the Apostle John assures us that we can know that we have eternal life (1 John 5:13) and Paul tells us that there is no longer any condemnation for those that are in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:1).

What was impossible for mankind (saving ourselves) is possible with God! (Matthew 19:26)

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.. for God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world might find salvation through Him." (John 3:16-17)

But aren't we supposed to do "good works"?? (click to find out!)
