Is This a Goth Website?

Ummmm....No! I just happen to like  BLACK

Are You Goth?

No. Not exactly. Goth is more than an outward appearance. Goth is a lifestyle. I really don't live that lifestyle.

However, I DO like some of the same things as goths, e.g. gothic, metal & punk rock, gothic architecture, hanging out in cemeteries and watching horror movies. (Speaking of...check out my new Horror Cam!)

I dig skulls and other creepy, Halloween accessories. Hmmmm...maybe I'm more Goth than I want to admit ;-)

I also usually dress in black. What can I say? I'm FAT and I look better in black than any other color.

I like Johnny Cash's explanation for why he wore black and readily appropriate it for myself:

Man In Black by Johnny Cash

Well, you wonder why I always dress in black,
Why you never see bright colors on my back,
And why does my appearance seem to have a somber tone.
Well, there's a reason for the things that I have on.

I wear the black for the poor and the beaten down,
Livin' in the hopeless, hungry side of town,
I wear it for the prisoner who has long paid for his crime,
But is there because he's a victim of the times.

I wear the black for those who never read,
Or listened to the words that Jesus said,
About the road to happiness through love and charity,
Why, you'd think He's talking straight to you and me.

Well, we're doin' mighty fine, I do suppose,
In our streak of lightnin' cars and fancy clothes,
But just so we're reminded of the ones who are held back,
Up front there ought 'a be a Man In Black.

I wear it for the sick and lonely old,
For the reckless ones whose bad trip left them cold,
I wear the black in mournin' for the lives that could have been,
Each week we lose a hundred fine young men.

And, I wear it for the thousands who have died,
Believen' that the Lord was on their side,
I wear it for another hundred thousand who have died,
Believen' that we all were on their side.

Well, there's things that never will be right I know,
And things need changin' everywhere you go,
But 'til we start to make a move to make a few things right,
You'll never see me wear a suit of white.

Ah, I'd love to wear a rainbow every day,
And tell the world that everything's OK,
But I'll try to carry off a little darkness on my back,
'Till things are brighter, I'm the Man In Black.

Isn't Celebrating Halloween Anti-Christian?

Oooohhhh. Good question. And here I am selling Halloween masks & props (ha, ha, ha!)

I think the real question being asked is: If you dress up on Halloween does that mean you're worshiping Satan or taking part in pagan rituals --- thus giving glory to Satan or to non-Christian religions.

Let's follow that idea through to it's logical conclusion. When non-Christians celebrate Christmas or Easter in their own secular fashion, does their celebration of our holidays give glory to Jesus Christ? Do they become "Christian" just by exchanging gifts on December 25th or by coloring Easter Eggs?

Now take your answer to that question and apply it to the first question.

I used to see the Devil in everything. I now believe that I was giving him far more credit than he deserves. Yes, he is a power to be reckoned with; but so much greater is He that is in me, than he that is in the world (1 John 4:4)

Check out the following website for a fairly balanced, Christian view of Halloween.

NOTE: if you were caught up in witchcraft or Satanism in your past  I don't expect you to do anything that might lead you back down that path (just as alcoholics are right in avoiding  taverns). My theology  is based on Romans ch. 14 which frees us to act according to conscience - but that includes freedom to abstain from certain food, drink and celebrations. If watching horror movies or trick or treating leads you to sin, then don't do it.

So What's With the Gargoyles?

Gargoyles were commonly placed atop Christian cathedrals in the 13th through 16th centuries A.D. They served a number of purposes - both practical (as waterspouts) and spiritual.

On this website they serve to create a particular atmosphere which is both modern and ancient, technologically savvy and yet mystical. And...I just happen to like gargoyles.

See the following website for more information on gargoyles.

What's Up With The Red Demon?

I assume you mean Click to visit Dark Horse Comics HELLBOY Zone

HELLBOY is a the star of his own Dark Horse comic series as well as the motion picture HELLBOY. If you haven't read the comics or seen the movie, I strongly recommend that you do.

To be brief, and without giving away any real spoilers, HELLBOY is a demon called to earth during World War II to assist Adolph Hitler and the Nazis to conquer the world.

BUT...before the Nazis can use him to their advantage, HELLBOY (at this time only a baby) is found by the Allied Forces and adopted by the very religious Dr. (Broom) Bruttenholm, the head of the B.P.R.D. (Bureau of Paranormal Research and Defense). HELLBOY, a demon from Hell, is raised by a Roman Catholic to do good, be good, fight evil, etc.

Far-fetched? Sure! But the redemption story, in this case a demon  brought into this world for Evil could be used for Good, makes this one of my favorite comics and movies so far this Century.

If you have never read a HELLBOY comic or seen the movie - PLEASE DO SO!

Okay, So is This a Christian Website?

Yes and No. This website was designed by someone who believes in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior; but this website wasn't designed as another place on the web for Christians to congregate.

Jesus came with a message and spent His time with the outcasts and rejects of polite, religious society - including whores, bums, alcoholics, some trapped in addictions, others caught up in sexual sins, the irreligious and non-religious, cripples, the sick and diseased and the impoverished and oppressed. WOW! that SOUNDS like ME!

So, following in His footsteps, my message really isn't for the "church" but for those "outside of the church". i.e. This isn't a website for Christians, so in that respect it is not a Christian website. However, from a doctrinal stance my theology is "orthodox" or "mainline" --- so in that respect it would be appropriate to say this site reflects a Christian worldview.

If This is a Christian Website, Why Do You...?

Sometimes use strong or foul language? Recommend secular movies? Quote secular song lyrics? Have skulls,  gargoyles and demons on this website? NOT support the Republican Party?

As stated above, this website was not designed to be a gathering place for Christians. If you are a Christian and you enjoy this site that's great. Come as often as you want. If you are a Christian who is offended by this site that's fine; don't visit my site and don't recommend it to your Christian friends. There are plenty of "squeaky-clean" Christian sites you can visit on the web; you don't need to visit this site.

If you are not a Christian and you're wondering the same question as above, all I can say is that life is not as rosy as some people want to believe. Life often SUCKS. Life can be ugly. Innocent people get cheated, hurt and killed. Children get raped and abused. Good people lose everything and bad people get away with murder. Life is ugly. Life is messy. Life in this world is not perfect. Rather than pretend that everything is fine, I would rather be straight up and admit that SHIT HAPPENS. I'm sorry that it happens, but I cannot deny that it does happen.

And I believe that is why Christ came into the world. Left in our hands, all we would ever do is mess things up even worse; but God in His love sent His only begotten Son to die for a bunch of fucked-up, filthy sinners like me - like you - like everyone in that church down the street (yes, even them).

Jesus didn't die so we would all look like Jerry Falwell. Jesus died so that we would all look like Jesus; and that means feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, visiting the sick and those in prison, proclaiming good news to the poor, binding up the broken-hearted, freeing the captives, comforting those who weep and mourn - in short, loving the unlovable, the disenfranchised and the outcasts no matter how ugly, how smelly or how sinful they (we) may be.

This song pretty much sums up where I stand in Jesus Christ:

Jesus Christ My King

As guilty as I am, it's hard to understand
You spent Your time with thieves like me
when You became a man

Your leaders turned away, they left You on the street
You spent Your time with thieves like me
and washed their filthy feet

With love no words can tell You broke the power of hell
You spent Your time with thieves like me
and died with them as well

As guilty as I am, I found a place to stand
it's just outside the empty tomb
where I was born again

As guilty as I am, it's hard to understand
You spent Your time with thieves like me
when You became a man

Words and Music by Dan Scott

This is the Jesus I believe in...and this is the Jesus I hope and pray you will meet through this website.

When Will You Be Releasing an Updated Version of QotA?

Unfortunately, I myself will probably never release an updated version of QotA. The English-language software we were using to create the game was not an authorized version of the original Japanese game; and rumors of an official English version being released to the public have proven to be nothing more than hearsay.

On top of that, my son who was co-creator of the game is no longer available to help with game development. I was considering purchasing the Japanese version of RM2K3 and completing the game, but without the help of my son I could never complete the game.

I DO have potentially good news, however! A few fans of the beta version asked if they could take over the completion of the game. I have provided them with all of my data and am waiting to see how they progress. I am compiling an email list for them to send notice if and when the game is ever completed. To be on this list send an email to

What IS QotA?

QotA stands for Quest of the Apostles. It was a Super Nintendo quality RPG for play on a Windows PC based on the life of Saul of Tarsus, better known as Paul the Apostle. Although production on the game has stalled, the beta version is still available for download on a few select websites. See QotA for more information on where to download the beta.
